Ceramic Fiber Module vs. Fire Clay Castable

Ceramic fiber module is a block made of folded ceramic fiber blanket and fixed on the surface of the structure with anchors. It is used in the furnace lining.
Compared to fire clay castables, ceramic fiber module has the following advantages:
1) Low thermal conductivity
Its thermal conductivity is 1/4-1/6 of that of fire clay castable. It is a good barrier to heat conduction and heat radiation and has good insulation performance.
2) Low bulk density
Its bulk density is 1/ 9 - 1/10 of that of fire clay castable.
3) High thermal shock strength
It can withstand repeated big changes in temperature gradient. So, it can withstand rapid thermal quench within the normal working temperature.
4) High mechanical shock strength
Since ceramic fiber is flexible and elastic and not easy to be damaged, it is not easy to be damaged by impact and vibration.
5) No cracks and spalling
It can form a sealed insulation lining when installed. The components are tightly pressed against each other due to its elastic expansion. Since the module is fixed with anchors and in the cold face of heat radiation, it does not withstand high temperature.
6) Long service life
It can used over 6 months, while fire clay castable is 1.5 months.
7) Easy construction and installation, short construction period, free preheating.
