Ceramic Fiber Blanket Not Equal To Ceramic Fiber Felt

Often some customers call ceramic fiber blanket as ceramci fiber felt. However, they are two different products. Although their raw materials and application are similar, there are many differences between them. 

Firstly, they have different bulk density. The BD of ceramic fiber felt is between 220~250, while that of blnaket is between 96-128. Therefore, the felt is relatively hard, while the blanket is relatively loose. The blanket is made of ceramic fiber bulk by needling. 

 

Secondly, they have different applications. The blanket is soft and can be wrapped and overlapped. It has a wider application. The felt is hard and can be only tiled in use without folding or bending. For example, for pipe insulation, only ceramic fiber blanket can be used. 

 

Thirdly, the have diiferent insulation performance. Because the blanket relatively fluffy and there are many pores in it, it can block hot air well. No matter which bulk density, just choose the suitable thickness. However, when the bulk density of the felt reaches 220, it has bad quality and rough surface. When used in the furnace, there will be gaps. So, its insulation performance is not as good as ceramic fiber blanket. 

 

Finally, ceramic fiber blanket is cheaper than felt. The price of blanket is just half of the felt. And the transportation and construction are relatively simple, so ceramic fiber blanket is cost-effective.
