The Construction of Ceramic Fiber Blanket

There are two ways to construct ceramic fiber blanket. 

One way is to apply the blanket layer by layer and then rivet them together with pin shanks. At 1200℃, high temperature resistant metal pin shanks are used; above 1200℃, ceramic pin shanks are used. The end close to the heat source is filled with bulk fiber and heat-resistant cement. This type of ceramic pin shank can prevent fiber weaving caused by carbon deposition. 

 

The other way is to use prefabricated components made of stacked ceramic fiber blanket or accordion-like prefabricated components folded with 305mm wide ceramic fiber blanket. 

 

The second method has higher energy efficiency, but the cost is higher. It should be noted that, when the temperature rises, the joints between prefabricated fiber components should be filled with stretchable fiber. The installation of prefabricated components is fast and easy. The repair is convenient. Just replace the damaged part down. The first method has higher thermal efficiency, because the fiber of the first method is perpendicular to the heat flow direction, while the fiber of the second method is parallel to the heat flow direction. The heat amount difference between the two is 20-40%. The thermal efficiency of accordion-like prefabricated components is somewhere in between, because its fiber is perpendicular to and parallel to the heat flow direction.
