Performance Comparison Between 6 Common Insulation Materials

Performance Comparison Between 6 Common Insulation Materials
The common insulation materials include adhesive Polystyrene particle insulation mortar, rock wool board, extruded polystyrene board, ceramic fiber board, polyurethane foam materials and phenolic resin composite panels. 
 
(1) Polystyrene particle insulation mortar 
It is a B1 organic refractory material. Its thermal conductivity is 0.057-0.06. It is flame retardant. Its insulation performance is quite good and has high construction requirements. 
(2) Rock wool board
It is a A inorganic refractory material. Its thermal conductivity is 0.041-0.045. It is flame retardant and hygroscopic. It has poor insulation performance. 
(3) Extruded polystyrene board
It is a B2 organic refractory material. Its thermal conductivity is 0.028-0.03. It has good insulation performance, high strenth and high resistance to wetting, but it is expansive and requries surface treatment when constructing. 
(4) Ceramic fiber board
It is a A organic refractory materials. its thermal conductivity is 0.05-0.08. it has uniform bulk density, good mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity, good insualtion performance, uniform thickness, low shrinkage, smooth surface, and good resistance to gas erosion. It can be in direct contact with the flame. It is easy to cut and install and cost-effective. 
(5) Polyurethane foam materials
It is an B1 organic refractory material. Its thermal conductivity is 0.025-0.028. It is waterproof and has good insulation performance and high strength, but it is expensive. 
(6) Phenolic resin composite panels
It is an B1 organic refractory material. Its thermal conductivity is 0.029-0.03. it has good insulation performance, high strength and good resistance to wetting, but it is expensive and requries surface treatment when installing. 
 
By comparison, it can be found that ceramic fiber board is the most cost-effective insulation material on the market. It is stable and easy to install and its price is reasonable, so it is gradually used to replace the rock wood board and glass wool.
