The load softening temperature of a refractory material refers to a temperature at which a material undergoes a constant compressive load and is deformed under heating at a certain heating rate. It shows the ability of the refractory material to resist both high temperature and load, and to some extent indicates the structural strength of the product under the same conditions of action.
The intrinsic factors affecting the softening temperature of the refractory load are the chemical, mineral composition and microstructure of the material, including the following:
 (1) The type and characteristics of the main crystalline phase, the secondary crystalline phase, and the matrix of the constituent materials, and the bonding between the respective phases. If the high temperature performance of the crystalline phase and the matrix is ​​good, the high temperature resistant crystalline phase forms a network skeleton, and the combination is tight, and the load softening temperature of the material is higher.
 (2) The number of crystal phases and matrices, the amount and viscosity of the liquid phase formed in the material at high temperatures. There are many crystal phases in the material, the amount of liquid phase formed at high temperature is small, the viscosity is large, and the load softening temperature of the material is higher.
 (3) Interaction between crystal phase and liquid phase.
Generally, the load softening temperature of the refractory material has a significant relationship with its porosity, and generally the material with a low density and a low porosity has a high deformation temperature.
The process factors affecting the refractory load softening temperature are the purity of the raw materials, the composition of the ingredients, and the firing temperature of the products. Therefore, by increasing the purity of the raw materials and reducing the content of the low-melt or flux, a certain component is added during the batching to optimize the combined phase of the product, the particle-level ingredients are adjusted and the molding pressure is increased to increase the density of the brick, and the firing temperature is appropriately increased and extended. The holding time can increase the sintering degree of the material and promote the growth and good combination of the crystal phase bodies, which can significantly increase the load softening temperature of the product.
